PLACES TO STAY
FOOD
Cafe Beaujolais - Our dear friends Pete and Melissa own this place. It’s one of the best places to eat in town, if not the best. Their son Julian makes the pizza and it’s literally the best pizza I’ve ever had. They stop serving pizza at 5pm but still have a full menu after. Every single thing is incredible, including the pastries! They also have a cool cafe next door called The Waiting Room - good coffee and pastries (Mendocino)
Good Life Cafe - Delicious healthy food (breakfast and lunch), gluten free/vegan pastries, coffee (Mendocino)
Fog Eater - incredible vegan southern cuisine. The food is soooo delicious and the gals that own it and chef are ADORABLE. So yummy! They do not take reservations (Mendocino)

THINGS TO DO/SEE
Montgomery Woods - my current most favorite place in the entire world. I cry every time I’m there. 10 min up hill hike to 1st/2nd generation majestic redwood grove, pure silence and endless magic. I can spend hours there. 45 min drive, right next to ORR hot springs
Orr hot springs - so incredible. They are reservation only, you have to call
Vichy hot springs - different hot springs vibe but still good
Russian Gulch Hike - insanely beautiful hike to a waterfall. Not sure what the waterfall looks like right now but the hike is worth it regardless. It’s an hour each way and not strenuous. I see kids there all the time
Botanical Gardens - super sweet place With a nice little walk/view (Fort Bragg)
Elk - one of my most favorite towns. The drive there is so stunning and it’s fairly close. Make sure to check out Mattson mercantile, the elk store, grab a sandwich there and then head down to the beach, it’s gorgeous. The beach is usually covered in the most beautiful driftwood
Mendocino. - There is endless amount of things to do there. Van damme state beach, jughandle state beach (a must!), rent a room at sweet water inn to soak in their incredible private tubs (get the room with the infrared sauna) you can rent the rooms by the hour, walk around town and check out the breathtaking view on the headlands
Drive up to Westport. Cute sleepy town with a beautiful black sand, deserted beach. The drive there is glorious. Check out Fort Bragg on the way.
Kayak Mendocino - amazing kayak tour
Rail bikes in fort Bragg - super fun! rail bikes through the Redwoods on the skunk train railroad
The closest beach to our house is Navarro Beach, about 9 miles away/20min. It’s really pretty and there’s usually no one there. You can have a bonfire/picnic there. You can have a bonfire at most of the beaches.
There are also swimming holes at the 6.34 and 3.66 markers on the 128
